Your Pictures

Hi Chris and Janet. Great trip and great stories you have!! I heard from you guys via Reg and Tas, with whom you travelled through Sudan.

I have put their stories on my website, but since they had a problem with their memorycard, I also used some of your pictures to accompany them. I hope that's OK with you!

Here are the webpages with Reg and Tas's stories in Sudan:

Well done!

Hello Chris and Janet,

After such an eventful trip you may not remember us, but we met on the camping in Lappeenranta in Finland on 2/7/07, the day before you crossed the border into Russia.

We were greatly impressed by your plans and, to be honest, we did not think you would make it. Fantastic! Our compliments, we envy you.

We're looking forward to your next travel log.

Well Done!!

 Hi to you both,

Very well done for making it back to Europe safetly, West Africa appeared to be a little more challenging at times from the East?  So soon you will be back to reality and probably like the rest of us planning your next adventure.  Would be great to meet up when you are back on English soil to exchange stories.

Enjoy whats left of the trip

Take care

Love Michelle & Troy xx

Hallo,

Groetjes,

Regentas

Hi

hi there Chris and Janet

Have been keeping track of your travels and the fun or otherwise that you've been having! Reading your blog is attracting me increasingly to the dark continent so will have to start making some plans. When is your travel book being published so i can use it as a reference! stay safe and will catch up again one day!

Take care

Glad to see you did the proper thing and deleted the said information.

I was also pleased to learn that you had taken heed of my earlier advice following meeting the B-L's.

My understanding is that you are not now seen as a national threat and appear under official files as "medically challenged - frontal lab's near complete"

Something Ray had always suggested of Chris from rear views on the 1st tee.

But as always, and more seriously,  best wishes guys and keep safe.

Hi

Hi,

Glad to see you are back on the road again.  Botswana and Namibia are both amazing countrys, shame about the rain but i'm sure it wont hamper you at all.  Are you doing the canoe trip into the Okovanga? That was one of I highlights we loved it especially getting to do the safari walks.  You will certainly see many animals whilst in Botswana and there are some great places to stay.  We really wish now that we had extended our carnet in SA and driven up the west coast home so will be reading your blog with interest, as it may be our next trip now.  Things awful here as i'm sure you have seen on the news, so as soon as we have some money think we may be off again, Africa is a very hard place to forget about.

Hope you have a safe trip through the congo.

Keep in touch

Troy & Michelle

Back on the road!

 Hi!

It's good to see you're travelling again. Not good that you got a Gondar dejavu... Although Rosh Pinar is nice. We hope you will be alright. And Chris; congratulations on your birthday!!

Enjoy Namibia to the fullest. It's an amazing country. Make sure you find other people to travel with through the north and to Angola.

We'll keep in touch!

Finally made it

Hi Chris & Janet,

Keep on travelling. This settling back in suburbia is for the birds with hassles with neighours, bills that we don't know about while away, and too many liquid lunches catching up with friends that we are finding we have less in common each time we come back.

Still drinking your tea mix Chris. Orginally I sorted them out by way of sachet size, colour of brew mix etc. That had a certain effect but still mainly a lucky dip.

Take care

Gary & Joan

Traveling tips

 Hi there,

Im the daughter of the two oldies you met near Sabie. You stayed at our guest farm- Gunyatoo. My father was very excited to tell me that he had met you and Got some information for me :) Thank you! It sounds like you having an awesome trip- well done on living your dream.

Im still in the hard stages of trying to organise the whole "dream". I am only leaving in Jan 2011- little over two years from now. I will be travelling from UAE, through Oman and Yemen accross to Africa Erritrea. I will then travel around Africa following the coast line and back to UAE.

I have managed to organise some sponsorships so far.... Yay!

Anyway just want to wish you luck and hope we can oragnise to meet sometime before my big adventure as I need as much advice as I can get.

Cheers,

Tamin Connolly

Great going!

"After exchanging half an hour of chat we realised they were people we had quickly consigned to the trash can in Dar Es Salaam because they were complete .**** ***** (censored by Janet)  We now had made friends with them again....c’est la vie."

Thank goodness we were going in the other direction in Dar but I think I know who it was ;-) Glad to see you are still on the road. We eventually made it to Europe, trip back to SA will commence in 2 weeks, see you on the road!

Hi

Hi Cris & Janet,

Lost touch with you, we sent an email but didn't hear back. The way the internet has been in places you may not have received it.

Back home in Bellingen, the van went into the container last Weds in Durban then we flew out on the Sunday. It seems you are still wandering south. We went along the Garden Route from Cape Town and stopped off at a couple of great places. Will tell you about them if you feel they would be good places to stop a day or two.

We had trouble on the road to Sth Luangwa as well with 2 tyres ruined. Hobbled to Lusaka in a badly bulging back tyre.

An yhow, love to hear from you if you get a chance.

Khanimambo

 Dear Chris and Janet,

after a whole day of travelling with a local full packed machibombo, we have finally arrived in Vilankulo. The lack of space to put our feet in a half-way even surface while attempting to lean against a) the window (martin was lucky) b) a pile of backpacks packed in their turn on top on a similar pile o boxes, bags of food, etc c) other travellers's bodyparts (arse being particularly distressful - pardon our language), we came to appreciate with a refreshed quality your wonderful generosity in gving us a lift and must say we envy your most precious caravan of love.

Hope you're enjoying Tofo ;-). Amamo-vos \ Wir lieben Euch!!

Cheers, Martin (GE) and Catia (PT)

Missing Afrika and you 2

 Dear Stalkers,

Just looked at your blog with tears in my eyes. We do miss Afrika and you 2. When we read your stories and saw the pictures we just want to run back! It is not so easy to get back to normal life again. You feel like living in two worlds. Hopefully we will get a house to rent by the end of the week in the eastern part of Holland. Simon has an interview next week so slowly we hope to settle down more and more. Our car will arrive today in the harbour of Rotterdam so we are going to pick him up on monday. The Three Musketiers together again! Joehoeee! Hope you 2 are doing fine, stay safe and enjoy!

Thinking of you razz

Hugs,

The Dutchies Simon & Marjon

Hello again!

Wow, I cannot believe how much time has passed since we saw each other, and how much you must have seen. I miss Ethiopia still, and think about it quite frequently. I have to admit I have not checked on you regularly, but, of course, I am sillily envious of you two travelling whilst I am sitting in rainy Berlin studying for my finals.

I will be in touch again, and thank you for the wonderful website with interesting accounts of men peeing...

with love, Louisa

back...

 Hi!!

Good to read your blog again. Must be great to be back! (We're jealous) Although it must also have been great to meet the family and friends in England and your grand-daughter, not to forget. We are back to work and everything is 'normal' again, but we do feel unsatisfied... It seems that Africa spoiled us!

Keep in touch! Hope to meet you again.

love, Reg and Natasja
